Antique Roycroft Rocker: Quarter-Sawn Oak

Description:
This exceptional Roycroft Rocker is a rare and highly sought-after example of Arts and Crafts craftsmanship. Constructed from solid quarter-sawn oak, this chair embodies the movement’s dedication to simplicity, durability, and hand-crafted excellence. The vertical slat back, wide flat arms, and sturdy frame provide both comfort and timeless aesthetic appeal. The recovered leather seat, secured with period-correct brass nailhead trim, showcases the rocker’s authentic character and history.

A hallmark of the Roycroft movement, the signature orb and cross logo is prominently branded on the front stretcher, verifying its authenticity and connection to one of the most influential workshops of the Arts and Crafts era.

Condition:
This rocker is in excellent structural condition, with the original Roycroft branding clearly visible. The quarter-sawn oak frame has been well-preserved, showing only minor wear consistent with age. The leather seat exhibits some expected patina and wear, adding to its authenticity and charm.

Provenance & About the Maker:
The Roycroft community, founded by Elbert Hubbard in East Aurora, New York, was one of the most important centers of the American Arts and Crafts movement. Roycroft furniture was celebrated for its hand-crafted quality, use of superior materials, and emphasis on honest, functional design.

This Roycroft Rocker is a prime example of the workshop’s mastery, designed for both aesthetic appeal and everyday use.
