Quarter Sawn Oak "Globe" Office Storage / File Cabinet Late 19th Century

$1,194.00
Sold Out

Here is an example of an unusual storage cabinet by Globe. Made from quarter sawn oak, boasting it’s original finish with a fresh cleaning and waxing.

The upper crest is stamped “Globe” in gold lettering, a subtle but distinctive maker’s mark that connects the piece to pre 1899 American office furniture manufacturing. Globe bought Wernicke company in 1899. Pieces that have the “Globe” shop mark are pre 1899 merger.

Designed for practical use, the interior features multiple adjustable shelves, allowing it to function equally well as a file cabinet, document cabinet, or compact storage piece for books and collectibles.

The proportions are narrow and vertical, making it ideal for offices, studies, libraries, or entry spaces where efficient storage is needed without sacrificing character. The paneled door and restrained detailing reflect the Arts and Crafts philosophy: structure as ornament, grain as decoration, craftsmanship over excess.

The middle shelf is fixed and not adjustable. The other shelves retain their original shelve pins and are adjustable.

25” d x 14.5” w x 48.5” h

shelves are each 22 1/4” deep
